The energy in Dances of Ecstasy slowly builds as the filmmakers take you around the world to experience the preliminaries of the dance ritual in various formats. You slowly wend your way through the beginning stages of the ecstatic dance experience and then plunge through and into the ultimate flow of energy and power captured and transmitted in the latter stages of the different dances as the dancers submit to the dance itself.

This is a two disc set. The first one is where you weave your way through the varieties of dance while the second one is an experiential one in which you can participate yourself. Prepare to dance the night and day away.

Burning Man

Burning Man chronicles the experiences of those who attend the raucous rowdy annual Burning Man festival in the remote desert in Nevada. All sorts of characters show up for this wild festival that culminates in the burning of a giant man-like figure at the end of the festival. Be forwarned, it's a raw festival and a number of those who show up do so in the raw. It is about exercising your freedom to do whatever or create whatever moves you.

For those not familiar this gathering has grown in recent years as the festival has landed on many of those "things to do before you die" lists. If your idea of roughing it is a motel then this experience probably won't be for you. On the other hand if you like to people watch this is prime real estate for watching the eccentric and the bizarre.

1 Giant Leap artisticly weaves its way through 20 different cultures bringing you a combination of insightful musings, philosophical meanderings, powerful vocals, rhythmical dance and performance art. Included is a good dose of African culture, rythm and dance.

I like to put this one on Jukebox mode while I'm working - it's like listening to some rhythmic jazz with some great cultural videos from around the world.
