Spirited Away

The mystery movie, from believe it or not, Disney Studios, is called Spirited Away. It is one of Japan's biggest hits from the Big Hitter himself director Hayao Miyazaki. Spirited Away, an animated film, is the highest grossing picture in Japanese box office history breaking the record set by another Miyazaki masterpiece - Princess Mononoke.

The main character is Chihiro who with his parents come upon what they think is a deserted amusement park. It turns out that they are actually in a resort for some Japanese gods. His parents are turned into pigs and he soon meets and sets out to help a boy named Haku. Then the adventure begins in earnest.

What is spiritual about this movie? The animation is top-notch but it is the development of Chihiro through a variety of trials and adventures that embody the "spirit" of Spirited Away.
